In a pluralized society, as we can find in Germany today, do we become hybrids of the cultures that we surround ourselves with? Where do I belong? What is cultural appropriation? Does my origin, or even only what I learnt about it, influence my identity? Is there something like a cultural identity?
These are the questions the photographic work „Within and Beyond Cultures“ deals with. The spaces in between Polish, German and Vietnamese culture are being explored on a personal level by sharing cultural ressources.The protagonists are the photographer herself, her best friend Phi Khanh and her boyfriend Hai Son. In opposition to the idea of a „Culture Clash“ the humans and cultures in this work are coming up and melting together in friendship and love.
